Braselton GA
The town of Braselton is located along Interstate 85 in the counties of Jackson, Barrow, Gwinnett, and Hall, about 45 minutes northeast of downtown Atlanta and about 60 minutes from Atlanta International Airport. The area features a well-developed road, highway, and interstate highway system. Georgia Highways 211, 53, 60, 124, and Interstate Highway 85 are the main routes used.
The Interstate has two interchanges (Exits 126 and 129) that lead into Braselton’s town limits. The nearest train lines are ten miles to the east, in the city of Jefferson. A tiny airport with two runways serves Jackson County. Athens, about 40 miles to the southeast, has the closest commercial air charter service.
What is the current weather in Braselton?
Because of the elevation changes, temperatures vary, but summer weather normally arrives by late May, when the first 90°F readings are expected. Afternoon temperatures range from the middle 80s to the low 90s, with a few readings in the upper 90s, especially in the southern half of the area, from then until early September.
Evenings in the summer are fairly lovely. Minimum temperatures typically range from 63°F to 68°F, with early morning temperatures in the 50s not uncommon. Showers and thundershowers account for the majority of summer rainfall.
The amounts vary greatly around the region, but one-tenth of an inch or more is likely at any given location on around one out of every five days. During the summer, slightly less than one-fourth of the yearly precipitation falls. Thunderstorms happen roughly once every three days, and some of them are accompanied by hail and severe winds.
The Braselton Brothers—John Oliver, Green, and William Henry—opened a series of country stores in the area in the late 1800s and early 1900s, establishing Braselton as a commercial center. Braselton was noted for its hospitable business atmosphere when it was incorporated in 1916. A walk through downtown Braselton is like stepping back in time. Historic two-story mansions with stunning architecture and imposing white columns dot the landscape, and the small town charm that existed more than a century ago has been preserved and is on full show. While the bustling downtown district and surrounding community have managed to maintain the traditions and allure of bygone days, Braselton has also managed to become an innovative and enterprising commercial juggernaut, welcoming businesses of all types and sizes and providing its nearly 12,000 residents with a wide range of contemporary services and amenities. The town is a wonderful mixture of past, present, and future, all wrapped together in one compelling location less than 50 miles northeast of Atlanta and spanning four North Georgia counties: Barrow, Gwinnett, Hall, and Jackson.
