Dysport
What Is Dysport?
Dysport is an injection that is used to temporarily reduce the appearance of frown lines and wrinkles. It was first approved by the Food And Drug Administration in 2009. Dysport is intended for patients who are under the of 65.
Who Is A Good Candidate For Dysport?
The ideal candidate for dysport is someone with mild to moderate fine lines and wrinkles. Healthy people who are under the age of 65 will most likely be considered a good candidate for dysport. However, this procedure is not intended for women who are pregnant or nursing. Doctors do not know whether an unborn baby will be harmed by the dysport. They also do not know whether dysport is excreted in the breast milk.
People who are interested in getting dysport should schedule a one-on-one consultation with a plastic surgeon. It is important to inform your plastic surgeon if you have any allergies. You should also tell your plastic surgeon about any supplements or medications you are taking.
What To Expect During The Procedure
Your plastic surgeon will wipe the area with an alcoholic wipe in order to prevent an infection. Lidocaine is sometimes used to numb the area. However, plastic surgeons usually inject lidocaine without using any numbing cream. The amount of time it takes to administer the injections can vary from patient to patient. In some cases, dysport can be performed in just 15 minutes.
What To Expect After Getting Dysport
Dysport is a very safe procedure, but patients may experience some side effects. Pain, swelling and redness around the injection site are some of the most commonly reported side effects. These side effects are normal and usually go away within a few days of treatment.
Recovering From Dysport
Dysport is a non-surgical procedure, so patients require little or no recovery time. Many people return to work and their other activities as soon as they finish getting this procedure. However, plastic surgeons do recommend avoiding vigorous exercise for at least 12 hours after getting dysport.
When Can I Expect To See Results?
Results can vary from patient to patient. However, most patients begin to see results within 24 to 48 hours of their procedure. The results continue to improve for a few months after the procedure. Keep in mind dysport does not give permanent results. The results typically last three to six months for the first treatment. Subsequent dysport treatments may last longer.
